Announcing Canada’s Business Model Competition 2015

The Starting Lean Initiative in collaboration with Deloitte, McInnes Cooper, Dalhousie University and the Rowe School of Business is excited to announce they will be hosting Canada’s Business Model Competition (CBMC) at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from March 13-14.

Student entrepreneurs from across Canada are invited to compete using Alex Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas. This tool uses an approach driven by a question, hypothesis, and validation process to create innovative business models that solve real problems. Entrepreneurs will be judged on how well they ‘get out of the building’, find a problem, nail a solution, and incorporate feedback from customers. They will also be judged on how well they have adapted their concept to meet customer wants and needs.

Canada’s Business Model Competition is a great opportunity for student entrepreneurs to meet new people, collaborate with some of the most innovative students in Canada, expand their networks, share their story and receive feedback from successful academic practitioners and industry experts..

Each team of student entrepreneurs will compete for first, second, or third place to win a share of a $50,000 (cash +in-kind) prize package provided by Deloitte. In addition, CBMC has been sanctioned as the national qualifier competition for theInternational Business Model Competition (IBMC); therefore, the winning team at CBMC will advance to compete at Stanford University!

Canada’s Business Model Competition registration is now open and accepting applications! Each team must complete an 8-minute submission video. The CBMC website has plenty of resources to help your team determine your eligibility, prepare your 8-minute submission video, and get more information for the event!
